How is candidate age calculated for PPSC and FPSC jobs in Pakistan?

In Pakistan, both PPSC (Punjab Public Service Commission) and FPSC (Federal Public Service Commission) calculate a candidate’s age strictly as of the official closing date specified in the job advertisement (unless stated otherwise, such as CSS which uses 31st December). Your age is calculated in exact years, months, and days on that cutoff date.

What is the cutoff date for the CSS Competitive Exam age calculation?

Under FPSC Competitive Examination Rules, age for CSS is calculated strictly on 31st December of the year preceding the examination year. Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years old on that exact day (or up to 32 years if eligible for government service, backward area, or recognized scheduled caste relaxation).

How does general age relaxation work in Punjab and Federal recruitments?

The Punjab Government grants an automatic 5-year general age relaxation for male candidates and 8-year general age relaxation for female candidates across most provincial BPS 11–17 general posts. The Federal Government provides an automatic across-the-board 5-year relaxation for general recruitment posts.

Why is my Islamic (Hijri) age different from my Gregorian solar age?

The Islamic Hijri calendar is strictly lunar, with an average year length of 354.36 days compared to the Gregorian solar year of 365.25 days. Because the lunar year is roughly 10.88 days shorter, you gain approximately 1 Hijri year every 32.5 solar years. An individual aged 33 solar years is approximately 34 years old in Islamic lunar years.

What is the minimum age requirement for NADRA Smart CNIC in Pakistan?
